Brief About Civil Engineering.

What is civil engineering:

Civil Engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines which relates directly to human beings for their better living with comforts and it helps to shape the world.

The proud thing for civil engineering:

As the term Civil represents "relating to citizens", i.e. the only engineering disciple which connects directly to live. Therefore, Civil Engineering is known as the mother of engineering.

Father of civil engineering:

To the World, John Smeaton (8 June 1724 – 28 October 1792) was the first Civil Engineer and is regarded as the "Father" of Civil Engineering. He was responsible for the design of bridges, canals, harbours, and lighthouses.
To India, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (15 September 1861 – 12 April 1962) popularly known as MV was an Indian engineer, and is regarded as the "Father of Civil Engineering in India”. He was the engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya district.

Date of Engineer’s day:

Around the world, different countries celebrate Engineer’s day on different dates because of their countries reason. On September 15th, India celebrates Engineer’s day as Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya the first civil engineer born on that day.

Role of a Civil Engineer:

A civil engineer can do a lot of work, they are responsible for planning, designing and executing a project. Not only these works but also maintenance works of the project. A civil engineer can do even modification works for an existing building too.

Of course, a civil engineer requires a high standard of subject knowledge but not only this but also administrative skills and supervisory.  Civil engineers have another responsibility to save our environment by helping in cleaning up pollution. Planning ways to reduce future pollution of our air, land and water.
